From Maun to Deception Valley Private Reserve

DIRECTIONS TO DECEPTION VALLEY LODGE FROM MAUN

1. From Maun take the road towards Francistown/ Samedupi.
2. About 15km outside Maun, you will see a big black tyre on the right hand side, stating Dinaka. Turn right towards Samedupi.
3. Follow the tar road straight over the river. Just after the river a gravel road will start.
4. Carry on straight with this road, you will go through a cattle fence. At one point the road will curve toward the right, stay on the broad open track. Do not take any small turn offs. You will see the Dinaka tyre again at this curve.
5. After a while it will turn sharp left, take the left (there will be a small road straight, don´t take that one), stay on the main track and carry on straight towards Somelo. The gravel road is about 70km long.
6. As you are heading towards Somelo, you will see another Dinaka tyre. Do not go right on the broad road towards Somelo. At the Dinaka tyre a sand road starts, which leads straight from the gravel road. Follow the sand track.
7. There will be small turnoffs throughout the way, do not take these turnoffs, just keep to the main sand track. You will have a damaged cattle fence on your left after a while, follow that fence straight down. At one point the main track will make a sharp right turn, stay on it. Do not carry down the fence on your left.
8. The Main track will go westwards, away from the cattle fence and you will end up at another cattle fence now on your right side. Carry straight all the way along it.
9. Shortly the game fences will start. They must remain on your right side the whole time. You will pass a corrugated sign stating ¨Deon¨. Continue straight.
10. You will pass an open field with a gate stating ¨Kgabo¨, continue straight.
11. You will end up at Dinaka´s gate. It is important for the entire route to mentioned above to follow Dinaka´s Tyres. At their gate you can only turn left. Our fenceline starts here.  Our first gate right to Dinaka´s gate is not the correct one for entry.
12. Drive along our fence, it will remain on your right hand side. Continue straight till you see a gate with a tall pole with a brown hyena sign on it.  Go through this gate and then follow the directions attached inside the reserve.
